Kamakura Stroll Vol.6 –

This is the family crest of the Hōjō clan, found at Kakuen-ji Temple in Kamakura.
Kakuen-ji Temple traces its origins to the Ōkura Yakushi-dō, built in 1218 by Lord Hōjō Yoshitoki out of his devotion to the Medicine Buddha.
In 1296, Lord Hōjō Sadatoki, praying that the Mongol invasions would not return, established Kakuon-ji with the monk Chikai Shinkei as its founding abbot—a place of practice where the four schools of Shingon, Tendai, Zen, and Jōdo could be studied.
A white family crest against a red gate… so cool! 😍

From Japan.
